Lucas, my co-founder, and I stood by an old vending machine three years ago. As students, we were both holding reusable bottles and thought: 'How can I refill my water bottle, but whenever I want something tasty, it always has to come from a plastic bottle or can?'

We did a deepdive into the soft drink industry and realised that it’s one of the most resource-inefficient and thus polluting industries out there. While the soda industry seems like a minor part of our daily lives, the impact is huge: with 1.3 billion single-use packages every day and an estimated 16.000 kilotonnes of carbon produced yearly (equalling the yearly emissions of a mid-sized country like Indonesia or South Africa).

We have a clear mission: to make the soft drink industry more sustainable. The Refill Point allows people to drink lemonade or flavoured water packaging-free, without a single-use bottle or can. Additionally, we are decentralizing the production of soft drinks by mixing tap water and flavours on-site instead of pre-filling and transporting them. Finally, we're offering healthier alternatives with no sugar contents, functional benefits and natural ingredients.

In less than 3 years, we’ve already welcomed 300+ companies to our Refillution in Belgium and the Netherlands, and prevented more than 9 million single-use packages so far. Our goal? 1 billion packages less by 2030!
